Frequently asked questions
What can you help me with?
I help with Wi-Fi, computer and workspace setup, software and email issues, printers, phones, tablets, and compatible smart-home devices. Tell me what you’re trying to do and I’ll confirm whether it’s something I can help with.
Do you help homes and small businesses?
Yes—homes, home offices, and small businesses. For equipment managed by your employer, your IT team’s authorization is needed before changes are made.
How much does support cost?
On-site support is $149 per hour, with a 1-hour minimum. Share the issue, the devices involved, and your city or ZIP code. I’ll confirm the scope and total price before you book. If the work needs to go beyond what we agreed, I’ll ask for your approval before continuing.
Can you help remotely or come to me?
I’m based in Walnut Creek, California, and offer on-site visits within about a 30-minute drive. Travel time depends on your address and traffic. Include your city or ZIP code and what you need help with so we can confirm whether an on-site visit or remote support is suitable, along with availability, before booking.
Which cities do you serve?
Service Boost offers on-site tech help in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Alamo, Danville, Martinez, Clayton and San Ramon. Visits are by appointment, with coverage confirmed for your address before booking.
How soon can I get help, and how long will it take?
Visits are by appointment only. Timing depends on the issue, the equipment, and availability. I’ll discuss the likely time needed when we confirm the scope. Sending a request starts that conversation; it doesn’t reserve an appointment.
Do I need to buy new equipment first?
You don’t need to buy anything before getting in touch. Share the make and model of your devices if you know them. We’ll discuss compatibility and whether any replacement equipment is needed before you make a purchase.
Will you need my passwords or access to my files?
Please don’t send passwords in the request form, by email, or by text. You enter your own credentials. We’ll discuss any access needed for the agreed work, and you should back up important files before changes are made.
What if the issue needs a repair specialist or my internet provider?
I provide setup and troubleshooting, rather than internal hardware repairs, data recovery, electrical work, or fixed wiring. If the issue falls outside that scope, I’ll explain what I found and the next steps. Not every issue can be resolved in a support session.
